Rebuild · Dental Implants

A missing tooth, replaced from the root up.

A single implant replaces the root itself: a small titanium post that carries its own crown and leaves the teeth beside it alone. Dr. Oh places implants here in Fairfield after imaging and a talk about your options.

At placement

Dental X-rays of one patient: an implant at placement and the same implant with its final crown.

With final crown

Radiographs of one patient treated by Dr. Oh. Results vary.

Is an implant right for you?

At Sora Dentistry we recommend an implant only when it's the right fit for your mouth.

Imaging comes first

Before we talk timelines, we image the bone and gum where the tooth is missing. Then we sit down and decide together whether an implant makes sense.

Sometimes a bridge, or waiting, is the better answer.

Healing takes months

The post has to knit to your bone before the final crown goes on. Every mouth does that at its own pace.

The crown comes last

Once the implant is ready, Dr. Oh designs the crown on screen from a digital scan, matched to the teeth around it, the way we plan every restoration.

Stands on its own root
Nothing beside the gap is drilled or reshaped. The implant carries its own crown and cleans like a natural tooth.

Common questions

Who places my implant?
Dr. Eric Oh places your implant himself, here in our office, and designs and seats the crown that goes on it, so one dentist handles your whole case. He is a general dentist who has made implants a focus of his continuing education: he is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (2025) and has completed Live Implant Training, a hands-on surgical course.
Does getting an implant hurt?
Less than most people expect. We numb the area thoroughly, and most discomfort settles within a few days.
How long does it take?
Usually several months. The post has to integrate with your bone before the final crown goes on, and that can't be hurried.
Should I get an implant or a bridge?
An implant stands on its own; a bridge anchors to the teeth beside the gap. Which is wiser depends on your bone, those teeth, and your priorities.
Am I a candidate?
That depends on your bone and gum health, which is why the exam and imaging come first. Many people are; some are better served another way.
How do I care for an implant?
Much like a natural tooth: brushing, cleaning between the teeth, and regular checkups, where we look at it each time.
What if an implant starts giving me trouble later?
Bleeding, tenderness, or gum pulling back around an implant is worth a look, even years on. We treat it with a laser protocol called LAPIP™, with no scalpel and no sutures, and we will look at an implant no matter who placed it.

Your implant, step by step

Getting an implant

STEP 01

Imaging first

The imaging tells us how much bone there is to hold a post. Without it, any answer is a guess.

STEP 02

Placing the post

Dr. Oh places the titanium post in a single planned visit, following the imaging and the plan we agreed on.

STEP 03

Healing

Over the following months the post integrates with your bone. We check along the way and do not move on until it is ready.

STEP 04

Crown, then checkups

Dr. Oh places the final crown designed from your scan. From then on, we look after it at every checkup.
