Cosmetic · Veneers

A smile that looks like yours, on its best day.

Veneers are thin layers bonded to the front of your teeth to change their shape or color. Dr. Oh designs yours on screen around your face first, so you see the plan before anything begins.

What makes a good veneer

A good veneer is one nobody can point to.

Designed on screen first

We start with a digital scan, no impression putty, and Dr. Oh designs the proposed result on screen. In many cases we can also print a trial smile that sits over your own unprepared teeth. Nothing is bonded and nothing is removed, so you see the shape and length on your own face before you decide.

The design is a preview, and your real result can differ. It lets us make changes early, while that's still easy.

Restraint is the aim

Shade, shape, and translucency are chosen to suit your face and the teeth beside it. Sometimes that means one veneer, sometimes a few placed together for symmetry. The on-screen design makes that choice visible before you commit.

Enamel does not grow back

Preparing a tooth for a veneer usually means reshaping a small amount of enamel. That part is permanent, so the decision gets time. You review the plan, ask your questions, and start only when you're sure.

Two ways to make a veneer

Porcelain is made in a lab and bonded at a second visit. A printed veneer is made here at Sora Dentistry in Fairfield from a ceramic-filled resin. It often takes one visit and costs less.

Porcelain costs more. It has decades of clinical follow-up behind it, and in lab testing it holds up to repeated chewing force far longer than printed resin. Both need the same preparation of your enamel. We'll tell you which we'd choose for your teeth, and why.

Sometimes the answer isn't veneers

Whitening or Invisalign® sometimes gets you there without touching enamel at all. When a smaller treatment fits your goal, that's what we recommend.

Common questions

How long do printed veneers last?
No one knows yet. They are new enough that published patient follow-up does not exist, while porcelain has been studied for decades. We expect printed veneers to need attention sooner, and we'd rather say that than quote a number we can't support.
Which would you recommend for me?
It depends on your bite and what the veneer has to do. We lean toward porcelain when the work has to last, especially with heavy grinding or an edge-to-edge bite, and toward printing for a preview, a single tooth, or a transitional look.
Are veneers permanent?
The preparation is: reshaped enamel does not grow back. The veneers themselves usually last many years and are replaced over time, depending on your bite and habits.
Will they look fake?
Not if we do our job. We design against your face and the teeth beside them, and we'd rather do less than have the work stand out.
Do veneers stain?
Porcelain usually resists stain better than natural enamel, though the teeth around it can still change shade over time. Regular hygiene visits help keep the whole picture even.
What if I grind my teeth?
We check your bite first, because grinding shortens the life of any veneer. A night guard is often part of the plan, and now and then we advise holding off on veneers entirely.

Your path, step by step

Getting veneers

STEP 01

Consult and scan

We listen to what you'd like to change and take a digital scan. No putty, no commitment.

STEP 02

Design on screen

Dr. Oh designs the proposed veneers from your scan. You review the projection with us and take the time you need.

STEP 03

Prepare and place

Once you're sure: the enamel is prepared, the veneers are made (in the lab for porcelain, on our printer for resin), then bonded and checked against your bite.

STEP 04

Protect and maintain

We check the veneers, your bite, and the margins at every hygiene visit, and fit a night guard if your bite calls for one.
